Sachtler ™
A Vitec Group brand
Cameraman Marko Butrakovic used the Video 18 SB fluid head for his shooting with Canon‘s latest DSLR-Camera, the 5D Mark II. “Initially, the shoot was supposed to put Canon‘s latest camera to the test. Because we had less than 48 hours for that, the equipment had to work flawlessly.“ Marko Butrakovic, who usually uses this fluid head for heavy cameras, reports, “Sachtler‘s robust fluid head, together with the carbon fibre tripod Speed Lock CF and the mid-level spreader 100/150, was perfectly suited for the work with Canon‘s 5D Mark II.“ Some scenes were shot with a longer lens, such as the 300 mm f2.8L or the 200 mm f2.8L. In this way, the front-heavy center of gravity can be efficiently balanced.”
All scenes were shot in Osijek, Croatia. The fluid head worked perfectly fine, even at temperatures below -5°C.
"You have to believe in your equipment and you always have to be sure it works in no matter what circumstances. It is a tool, virtually a connection between the camera and the operator. Sachtler conveys this feeling of reliability" says Marko Butrakovic. The cameraman works in various areas shooting music videos and reality shows, concerts and also industrial films.
The completed video is called “BESPLA“, the Croatian word for "Free Hugs". "Free Hugs" is a campaign, that was brought to life by the Australian Juan Mann and which is also implemented successfully in other countries. Mark Botrakovic‘s video is online by now and has thrilled users of the internetportal www.vimeo.com.
